Product Review: Kikki.K Fuchsia Leather Personal Planner

Today, I received the Kikki-K Fuchsia Leather Personal Planner in the mail. I had ordered this online a couple of days ago. The shipping was pretty quick from Melbourne to Sydney, Australia. I was so excited to receive it this morning that I almost scared the delivery man when I jumped out of excitement. This is what planner addiction does to you :).

Here is my full and honest review of this planner.

Note: I have not been paid to do this review. I have purchased this planner myself and this is my personal opinion and review of this planner.

PACKAGING

This planner comes packaged in a beautiful White, Pink and Black Polka dots box with an elastic string  wrapped around the box and a little tag attached with the name of the product. It looks really chic and very girlie. This planner comes in a plastic sleeve and wrapped in a thin tracing paper. Packaging has been taken care of pretty well.

THE PLANNER

The planner is made out of leather. This particular planner comes only in the Large size. The colour of this planner is described as Fuchsia. In real it is a very nice shade of Pink but not Fuchsia at all. It is a beautiful bright Pink that is not Fluorescent or too bright that you would need sunglasses to look at it. The interior is lined using a Black fabric with White Polka dots that looks so pretty. It is such a nice contrast to the pink leather. The planner has a Clasp button closure with a gold "K" monogram detail on the button. There are four pockets, a zip pocket and a full length pocket where you could slide some stickers & notes and a small to do list notepad has been included on the left inside of this planner. On the right side interior, there is a pocket that holds a note pad that also comes with this planner. There is one fully elasticised pen loop on the right side of this planner.

It is a Large size Personal Planner and not a Time Planner. Therefore the inserts are different from the Time planner inserts. The inserts included in this planner are:

  1. Three Tab dividers i.e Calendars, Meetings and To Do
  2. Four Blank Tabs (Can be customised)
  3. 18 Month Perpetual Calendar
  4. To Do List
  5. Meeting Notes
  6. Note pages
  7. To Do List Notepad
  8. Lined NotePad
  9. Three Sticker Sheets (To customise tabs & pages)

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

What I Like

The colour of the planner is beautiful and nicely paired with the Black and White Polka dot fabric lining. I like the design of the planner i.e. the way the pockets are setup and the zipper pocket is placed etc. I also like the fact that it lays pretty flat straightaway. The tab dividers are nice, thick, and colourful that match well with this planner unlike the navy blue tab dividers used in the Kikki-K Mint Time Planner that were a total mismatch.

What I do not like

The quality of the product in terms of finishing details is where the problem lies. Here are a few pictures that reflect the problem areas that need improvement.

The White portion that is showing in the above picture is the fabric, which is Black and White on one side and full White on the other. The finishing error is what makes it look like this that we see here in the photo above.

The above photo is showing the back end of the clasp strap. The leather has been cut or slit to slide the strap inside and then sewn. However, it has been left looking unfinished. I have quite a few leather Filofax planners (Filofax used for comparison due to the popularity of the brand) and they all look perfectly finished.

I own three Kikki-K planners now (including this Fuchsia one) and many Filofaxes too. None of these planners (Filofax or Kikki-K) are inexpensive. These defects and imperfections may sound trivial but they are not so trivial when you are paying a lot of money to buy them. In my opinion Kikki- K should definitely pay a little more attention to the quality. Also, none of the Kikki-K planners smell of leather whereas all Filofax leather planners do smell deliciously of leather. Not smelling of leather has nothing to do with the quality but I like leather to smell like leather. It is a personal preference.

The other thing I kind of dislike are the stark White diary inserts. They don't look good at all! The quality of the paper just like Filofax ones is just average and thin. So I am not impressed with either of these two brands.

Overall, I like this planner and that is why I bought it. I am yet to start using it as I received it only this morning. But the early review is to help people who are interested in buying this planner. I love both Filofax and Kikki-K planners. I guess Kikki-K planners are lovely. They just need to pay a little more attention to detail when it comes to finishing and quality of these expensive products.

I hope this review has been helpful and please feel free to leave me comments, suggestions. And if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thank you for taking out time to read this review

Have a lovely day!

Kikki.K Large Time Planner - Panda Inspired Week

This week I am using my Kikki- K Large (A5) Time Planner and decoration is all Panda Inspired.
Got to love that cute chubby species! It is Spring here in Australia and I am loving the Pastel and bright colours from the Kikki-K planner range.

So, here are some pictures of how my week looks like

I really cannot get enough of this colour. It is so pretty.

I am using the Filofax Week on two pages inserts. I think the Filofax paper is pretty thin but unfortunately I will have to use these inserts while I wait for the Piaric (You can find her on Facebook under "Piaric") inserts to arrive.

These Uni-Style Fit Multi Pens go so well with this planner and the theme. And they write well too!

On this left side page, I have used Panda Bento Lunch box dividers as stickers. Amy@Filocuteness.blogspot.com introduced me to these dividers. I just think they look super cute as stickers too :)

What do you think of this Panda Paperclip that I made myself?

As usual, I had to have a quote in my weekly setup. This quote is so motivating.

And........ the supplies.

Giraffe inspired week in my Kikki.K large leather time planner

This week I am using my Kikki-K large leather time planner that is equivalent of an A5 Filofax planner. I love the mint colour and the golden polka dots are an icing on the cake. I love it so much that I cannot stop looking at my planner. It comes with inserts and tabs that I don't particularly like. I will be using other inserts that I have ordered as soon as i receive them. I promise I will post photos and details of the planner when I have it completely set up.

My weekly decoration is inspired by Giraffes. I absolutely adore Giraffes. They have such a brilliant height, structure and the pattern on their hide is just gorgeous! Here are a few pictures of this week's set up

Being an illustrator, I love sketching and playing with colour pens and pencils. I love creating tiny colourful drawings in my planner.

APPLE iOS 7.0 Inspired week in my A5 Original Fluoro Pink Filofax

This week I am using "The Original" A5 Filofax in Fluoro Pink along with my Medium size Kikki-K Time Planner. I love the Fluoro Pink colour and the leather is really nice. In saying that, this planner needs to be taken care of well, as it could get stained and scratched pretty easily. I don't like marks on my planners, so I treat it like a baby. The planner lays absolutely flat. I don't try to fit too many inserts inside this planner so I have not had any issues with the closing the clasp so far. Many people think that the clasp is shorter than it should be. Who knows, I might also face the same problem some day :)

Recently I heard of the new Apple software update that was about to be released and  I was very excited. I am an Apple and MAC addict. Yesterday IOS 7.0 went live and yes I updated it :O). The design looks brilliant as always. Clean, Colourful and very futuristic icons and interfaces. I am still getting used the new look and feel but it wont be too long before I get absolutely comfortable with it. I guess that is what Apple products are all about; Simplicity and Class. Love Apple!

My week in my A5 Fluoro Pink Filofax is inspired by --- Of course ! Apple IOS 7.0
Here are some pictures to share with you on how the decoration turned out :O)

I love quotes so I thought of making this little card insert, hole punching and adding a little touch of Apple to it :)

This week in my Kikki-K Medium Time Planner

This week I am using my brand new Kikki-K leather time planner in the Medium size that is equivalent of the Filofax personal size. This planner is a little wider than the Filofax personal size although the height seems to be the same. Also, the ring size appears to be a little bit bigger than the Filofax rings. The pen loop is fully elasticised. I love the pastel colour and the cute little golden polka dots add value to the overall look of the planner. The mint green elastic closure was not something that I initially fancied. However, I have started liking it and think it actually looks really nice on this planner.

The planner came with a bunch of inserts; 2014 Month on two pages, Week on two pages, Addresses, Birthdays & Anniversaries, Shops & Restaurants, To-dos and Expenses. I probably will not be using these inserts. The pages are stark White that I think could have been toned down a bit. Also this planner came with Navy Blue dividers that in my opinion was a complete mismatch with gorgeous pastel colour of the planner. So, I have taken those dividers out as well. I will be making my own dividers soon; something pastel, something playful I guess! Overall, I love this planner so much that I bought the same planner in the Large size as well (Filofax A5 equivalent). I will start using the A5 size very soon.

So this is how I have set up the Kikki-K leather time planner in the Medium size this week. The theme I chose for this week was - Elephants. Absolutely adore elephants :O)B

The pen that you see here is a Stabilo Liner 308 in Pink. It is a ballpoint pen that writes really well.

I like to read nice quotes. So I added one on the little card that I made and hole punched.

GOODIES USED THIS WEEK:

I cannot wait to decorate my planner for next week.

Mini Typo Haul

This is my first blog post ever :O)B

I am super excited to share my love for organisation, colours, cute stationery, Filofaxes and lots of lovely goodies with you all. I will try to list all the products along with the prices and stores that I share in my blog.

Thank you so much for joining me. Hope you enjoy!

Yesterday, I visited the TYPO (stationery store) here in Sydney, Australia. I found a few interesting things that I picked up for my Craft Room and would love to share with you all here today.

Hold my cupcake – Pink cupcake stand – AUD 9.95
Blue Cloud Mail Organiser – AUD 14.95
Washi tapes (set of two) – AUD 7.95
Blue Owl Novelty Pen – AUD 4.95

The two Washi tapes look so cute together. I still haven’t figured out how I will use the cupcake stand but it definitely will be more of a decorative piece in my craft room than an actual cupcake stand.

My favourites are the Cloud mail organiser and the blue owl pen.
Doesn’t he look adorable?

Hope you have a lovely day!
